So the national grid is at maximum capacity most of the time and now we need to charge cars where is this extra electrical capacity coming from is it coming from green sources? Ok, so what you actually meant is that it is occasionally close to capacity, which isn’t the same as “maximum capacity most of the time”, which would be a genuine concern?

Needs to be able to charge in – mins and give you 350+ miles per charge in the winter with all the heaters on. The lithium batteries that these cars use aren’t small and when they need to be replaced (not cheap), what do they do with the old ones, they can’t be reconditioned and used again and I don’t think there’s an environmentally friendly way of disposing of them (not sure as I don’t work in that industry.
So when we’ve all got electric cars and no one is paying road tax the roads will be even worse than now. Can’t wait for that. Pothole parties will be held. Councils pay for pothole repairs (apart from trunk roads which are paid for from central government). Or not if they don’t have any money. No direct connection with vehicle excise duty.
