Louisville announced a 72-hour countywide curfew starting at 9 p.m. on Wednesday in anticipation of protests, with Mayor Greg Fischer declaring a state of emergency and calling for calm. “Our goal is ensuring space and opportunity for potential protesters to gather and express their First Amendment rights after the Baseball – Catcher Shirt announcement,” Fischer said in a statement. “At the same time, we are preparing for any eventuality to keep everyone safe.” Last week, Fischer announced the city agreed to a $12 million settlement with Taylor’s family that includes more than a dozen police reforms.
